How to Add a Contributor to Your Wix Site

Want a web designer, agency, or team member to help with your Wix site? Here's how to invite them as a collaborator — safely, in about 2 minutes, without ever sharing your password.

Why you'd do this: To build, edit, or launch your site, whoever is helping needs access to it. Wix's collaborator invites are the safe way — they get their own login through an email invite, you choose the role (how much access they get), you keep your password private, and you can remove them anytime.

Step-by-step

1

Open "Roles & Permissions"

In your Wix account ↗, open your site's dashboard and go to Roles & Permissions (under Settings).

3

Enter their email

Type the email address of the person you're inviting in the Emails field (for example, your web designer or agency). You can add more than one, separated by commas.

4

Choose a role — keep it light

Check the box next to a role. Give the least access that does the job:

Website EditorEdit your site's content & pages. Least access
Website ManagerAlso manages site settings.
Admin (Co-Owner)Full access — needed for domain & billing.
For editing the site, Website Editor is the lightest choice. Use Admin (Co-Owner) only if they need to connect a domain or handle billing.
5

Send the invites

Click Send Invites. Wix emails the invitation — it expires after 30 days if it isn't accepted.

6

They accept the invite — done

The person accepts the emailed invitation and can then help with your site based on the role you gave them. You can change or remove their access anytime from the same screen.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add someone to my Wix site?

Open your site's dashboard → Roles & PermissionsInvite Collaborators → enter their email → pick a role (Website Editor or Website Manager for limited access) → Send Invites.

Do I have to share my password?

No. Collaborators get their own login through an email invitation. You never share your password, and you can remove them anytime.

What role should I give my web designer or agency?

For editing your site, Website Editor is the lightest role; use Website Manager if they also need site settings. Only choose Admin (Co-Owner) for full access, which is required for connecting a domain or billing.

Does the invite expire?

Yes — a Wix collaborator invite expires after 30 days if it isn't accepted. Free sites include one collaborator seat, which fills only after the person accepts.

Can a contributor connect my domain?

Connecting a domain and other account settings require a higher role. Give Admin (Co-Owner) if you want them to connect your domain, or handle the domain connection yourself and keep them on a lighter editing role.
