Get your business verified on Google.

When someone searches "[what you do] near me," Google decides who shows up. This is the simple path to being one of them — including exactly what to film for verification, whether you have a storefront or not.

Why it matters

Your Google Business Profile is the #1 way local customers find and choose you. It's what puts you on the map (literally), shows your reviews, and lets people call or get directions in one tap. No verified profile means you're invisible for the exact searches that turn into jobs.

The 4 steps

1

Create your profile

Go to business.google.com → "Add your business." Search your name first in case a profile already exists to claim.

2

Fill in your details

Name, category, phone, website, hours, and a short description. Add real photos — your work, your team, your vehicle. Photos are one of the biggest ranking + trust levers.

3

Verify (this is the gate — see below)

Google confirms you're a real, operating business, usually with a short video filmed on your phone. Turn on GPS/location, film it in one continuous shot. Review is often ~24 hours.

4

Optimize + go

Set your services with prices, post an update, and start asking happy customers for reviews. A profile with photos, services, and reviews beats an empty one every time.

What to film for verification

You only film what you actually have. Pick your situation:

If you have a storefront or shop

  1. Start at the nearest cross-street or street sign.
  2. Walk up to your building — show your exterior signage and the entrance.
  3. Go inside — show your workspace, counter, or equipment.
  4. If asked, show a piece of mail, a utility bill, or your business license.

If you have no storefront (service-area business — plumbers, contractors, mobile)

You don't need a shopfront. You just show you're real and operating:

  1. Your branded vehicle — the truck/van with your name or wrap on it.
  2. Your tools and equipment — what you actually use on the job.
  3. Your base of operations — your garage, home office, or where you load up.
  4. Your business documents — license, insurance, or a utility bill/mail at your registered address.

Your home address stays private — service-area businesses hide the address and just show a service region.

Tips to pass the first time: good daylight · one continuous shot (don't stop/start) · GPS on · say your business name out loud · keep it under ~2 minutes · don't use stock or old footage.
